For years, The Dispatch advertising department offered potential advertisers online tools for writing and designing their own ads for print and web. Unfortunately, “EZ-Ads” appeared to be anything but and few advertisers took advantage of it. The Dispatch marketing department designed a new logo, but I was asked to redesign the website homepage. I wanted to design a page that simply and visually showed visitors what steps they would have to take to design their own ads. That way, they could gather their text, imagery and logo before even leaving the homepage and be ready to build their ad. Dispatch CIO Joe Gallo joked that the redesign was so effective that they should increase advertising team’s sales quotas.
